A little about me,
My name is Areeya, I am a Model maker and Art Director.
I began working on props for live action films but through the years my career has mostly focused in the stop-motion and puppet department. I have found the quick pace of TV allows me to constantly change hats, solve new problems as I go and challenge myself to think outside the box, especially when tight on time or budget. I would say my best skill is that I have a great eye for the smallest of details and enjoy telling a story when creating different sets. Running a full team and delegating jobs brings me a lot of joy as I get to see and support everyone whilst they excel in their craft. Thankfully through the years I have met more than a handful of amazingly skilled makers, which definitely helps!
Some personal facts about me- I was born in Bangkok Thailand, year of the Dog. My TV career started as early as one as I was a baby model for Huggies and Pampers. At the age of three my mum and I moved to the UK and resided in the West Midlands. I have always been obsessed with arts and crafts as a kid and it’s probably when I started to see household rubbish as art materials. As most pathways go, I was Inspired by a teacher to study a particular course in London. This was over 10 years ago when I got my BA in Character design and creation from Hertfordshire University, and to this day I still live in London.
